वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-64, verse-19

कृतकामो महीं सर्वां चचार तपसि स्थितः ।
एवं त्वनेन ब्राह्मण्यं प्राप्तं राम महात्मना ॥१९॥
19. kṛtakāmo mahīṃ sarvāṃ cacāra tapasi sthitaḥ ,
evaṃ tvanena brāhmaṇyaṃ prāptaṃ rāma mahātmanā.

19. Rāma,

19. Having fulfilled his desire, he wandered over the entire earth, devoted to severe asceticism (tapas). In this way, O Rāma, brahminhood was attained by that great-souled one.
