मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-119, verse-23

क्षमतां वञ्चनामेतामेकस्माद्बलशालिनाम् ।
बहूनामेकवर्णानां जन्म धिग्वो महीभृताम् ॥२३॥
23. kṣamatāṃ vañcanāmetāmekasmādbalaśālinām .
bahūnāmekavarṇānāṃ janma dhigvo mahībhṛtām.
23. kṣamatām vañcanām etām ekasmāt bala-śālinām |
bahūnām eka-varṇānām janma dhik vaḥ mahībhṛtām
23. "Pardon this deception by one who is strong. Shame on your birth, you many kings of the same class (varṇa)!"
