मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
एवं सूर्यस्तवं कुर्वन्विश्वकर्मा दिवस्पतेः ।
तेजसः षोडशं भागं मण्डलस्थमधारयत् ॥१॥
एवं सूर्यस्तवं कुर्वन्विश्वकर्मा दिवस्पतेः ।
तेजसः षोडशं भागं मण्डलस्थमधारयत् ॥१॥
1. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca .
evaṃ sūryastavaṃ kurvanviśvakarmā divaspateḥ .
tejasaḥ ṣoḍaśaṃ bhāgaṃ maṇḍalasthamadhārayat.

Mārkaṇḍeya said: Thus, Viśvakarmā, while chanting a hymn of praise to the lord of the heavens (the Sun), held back a sixteenth part of his radiance which was present in his disk.
