महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-65, verse-13

प्रविश्य तु रणे भीमो मकरं मुखतस्तदा ।
भीष्ममासाद्य संग्रामे छादयामास सायकैः ॥१३॥
13. praviśya tu raṇe bhīmo makaraṁ mukhatastadā ,
bhīṣmamāsādya saṁgrāme chādayāmāsa sāyakaiḥ.

13. Having entered the battle (raṇe), Bhima then, from the front of the 'crocodile' formation (makara-vyūha), approached Bhishma in the combat (saṃgrāme) and covered him with arrows.
