महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-42, verse-10

कामानुसारी पुरुषः कामाननु विनश्यति ।
कामान्व्युदस्य धुनुते यत्किंचित्पुरुषो रजः ॥१०॥
10. kāmānusārī puruṣaḥ kāmānanu vinaśyati ,
kāmānvyudasya dhunute yatkiṁcitpuruṣo rajaḥ.
10. kāmānusārī puruṣaḥ kāmān anu vinaśyati kāmān
vyudasya dhunute yat kiñcit puruṣaḥ rajaḥ
10. A person who follows desires perishes along with them. But having cast aside desires, a person shakes off whatever mental impurities (rajas) they possess.
