महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-228, verse-27

शकटापणवेश्याश्च वणिजो बन्दिनस्तथा ।
नराश्च मृगयाशीलाः शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः ॥२७॥
27. śakaṭāpaṇaveśyāśca vaṇijo bandinastathā ,
narāśca mṛgayāśīlāḥ śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ.

27. Cart-drivers, shopkeepers, and courtesans, as well as merchants and bards, and men fond of hunting, (followed) in hundreds and then in thousands.
