महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-35, verse-30

स्त्रियस्तथापचारिण्यो निष्कृतिः स्याददूषिका ।
अपि सा पूयते तेन न तु भर्ता प्रदुष्यते ॥३०॥

30. Similarly, for women who transgress, there can be an expiation (niṣkṛti) that is not considered a fault. Even she becomes purified by it, but the husband is not defiled.
