दानं हि भूताभयदक्षिणायाः सर्वाणि दानान्यधितिष्ठतीह ।
तीक्ष्णां तनुं यः प्रथमं जहाति सोऽनन्तमाप्नोत्यभयं प्रजाभ्यः ॥२६॥

26.
Indeed, the act of giving (dāna) the assurance of fearlessness to beings surpasses all other forms of charity (dāna) in this world. He who first renounces a cruel physical form (or a fierce nature) attains infinite fearlessness for all creatures.
