महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-201, verse-20

एत एवंविधा देवा मनोरेव प्रजापतेः ।
ते च पूर्वे सुराश्चेति द्विविधाः पितरः स्मृताः ॥२०॥
20. eta evaṁvidhā devā manoreva prajāpateḥ ,
te ca pūrve surāśceti dvividhāḥ pitaraḥ smṛtāḥ.
20. eta evam vidhāḥ devāḥ manoḥ eva prajāpateḥ te
ca pūrve surāḥ ca iti dvividhāḥ pitaraḥ smṛtāḥ
20. eta evam vidhāḥ devāḥ manoḥ prajāpateḥ eva ca
te pūrve surāḥ ca iti dvividhāḥ pitaraḥ smṛtāḥ
20. These gods, of such a type, are indeed the offspring of Prajāpati Manu. And thus, those ancient gods (suras) are considered to be ancestors (pitaras) of two kinds.
