महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-201, verse-2

भीष्म उवाच ।
श्रूयतां भरतश्रेष्ठ यन्मा त्वं परिपृच्छसि ।
प्रजानां पतयो ये स्म दिक्षु प्रत्येकशः स्मृताः ॥२॥
2. bhīṣma uvāca ,
śrūyatāṁ bharataśreṣṭha yanmā tvaṁ paripṛcchasi ,
prajānāṁ patayo ye sma dikṣu pratyekaśaḥ smṛtāḥ.
2. bhīṣmaḥ uvāca śrūyatām bharataśreṣṭha yat mā tvam
paripṛcchasi prajānām patayaḥ ye sma dikṣu pratyekaśaḥ smṛtāḥ
2. bharataśreṣṭha! tvam yat mā paripṛcchasi tat śrūyatām.
ye sma prajānām patayaḥ dikṣu pratyekaśaḥ smṛtāḥ.
2. Bhīṣma said, "O best among the Bhāratas, listen to what you ask of me. These are the lords of creation (prajā) who are remembered individually in each of the directions."
