How can I not grieve for the virtuous Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī)? I fear she will certainly perish today in this ocean of sorrow (śokārṇava). Upon learning that her brothers, her sons, and her aged father, the king of Pañcāla, have been killed, she will undoubtedly fall unconscious to the earth, her body-frame emaciated by grief.
