दुर्गा-सप्तशती       durgā-saptaśatī - chapter-8, verse-27

यतो नियुक्तो दौत्येन तया देव्या शिवः स्वयम् ।
शिवदूतीति लोकेऽस्मिंमस्ततः सा ख्यातिमागता ॥२७॥
27. yato niyukto dautyena tayā devyā śivaḥ svayam .
śivadūtīti loke'smiṃmastataḥ sā khyātimāgatā.
27. yataḥ niyuktaḥ dautyena tayā devyā śivaḥ svayam
śivadūtī iti loke asmin tataḥ sā khyātim āgatā
27. Because Shiva (śiva) himself was appointed as a messenger by that Goddess, she therefore became known as Shivaduti in this world.
