भगवद्गीता       bhagavad-gītā - chapter-3, verse-5

न हि कश्चित्क्षणमपि जातु तिष्ठत्यकर्मकृत् ।
कार्यते ह्यवशः कर्म सर्वः प्रकृतिजैर्गुणैः ॥५॥
5. na hi kaścitkṣaṇamapi jātu tiṣṭhatyakarmakṛt ,
kāryate hyavaśaḥ karma sarvaḥ prakṛtijairguṇaiḥ.
5. na hi kaścit kṣaṇam api jātu tiṣṭhati akarmakṛt
kāryate hi avaśaḥ karma sarvaḥ prakṛtijaiḥ guṇaiḥ
5. hi kaścit akarmakṛt kṣaṇam api jātu na tiṣṭhati
hi sarvaḥ avaśaḥ prakṛtijaiḥ guṇaiḥ karma kāryate
5. Indeed, no one ever remains without performing action (karma) even for a moment; for everyone is helplessly compelled to act by the qualities (guṇa) born of material nature (prakṛti).
