पश्चाज्जातः कलकलरवः संतते पान्थसार्थे दीनालापैर्व्यसनविधुरैरालेपन्ते च मेघम् ।
कष्टं पान्थो मृत इति महारम्भसंपन्नहाहाशब्दः प्रोद्यत्पथिकवनिताविस्तृतोरःप्रहारः ॥ ८ ॥

Subsequently, a confused clamor arose among the gathered company of travelers. With sorrowful laments, distressed by their misfortune, they cried out to the cloud. "Alas, the traveler is dead!" — a great outburst of cries of lamentation (hāhā-śabda) began, accompanied by the wives of the travelers, rising up and beating their expansive chests.
