अस्मिन्काले कुवलयलताकोमला धूमलेखा नासारन्ध्रं मृदुगलबिलं मे प्रवृत्ता नियातुम् ।
उष्णा कृष्णा नकुलकलिता सत्वरं बालसर्पी भूमे रन्ध्रं तनुमिव दराद्दैर्घ्यसंकोचकुब्जा ॥ ११ ॥

At that moment, a plume of smoke (dhūmalekhā), soft and delicate like a blue lotus creeper, began to enter my nostril and my soft throat passage. It was like a hot, dark, coiling baby snake, swiftly entering a narrow hole in the earth, hunched and contracting its length out of fear.
