For one afflicted by fate, without kin, bewildered, and deeply entrenched in the realm of great mental anguish, in a dire calamity (mahā-apad), whatever life (prāṇana) or death (maraṇa) comes, that self-preservation (ātma-nirjīvita) is paramount.
