वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-45, verse-16

लक्ष्मणो ऽर्थं तु तं श्रुत्वा शिरसा वन्द्य मैथिलीम् ।
शिवमित्यब्रवीद्धृष्टो हृदयेन विशुष्यता ॥१६॥
16. lakṣmaṇo'rthaṃ tu taṃ śrutvā śirasā vandya maithilīm ,
śivamityabravīddhṛṣṭo hṛdayena viśuṣyatā.
16. lakṣmaṇaḥ artham tu tam śrutvā śirasā vandya
maithilīm śivam iti abravīt hṛṣṭaḥ hṛdayena viśuṣyatā
16. lakṣmaṇaḥ tu tam artham śrutvā maithilīm śirasā
vandya hṛṣṭaḥ hṛdayena viśuṣyatā iti śivam abravīt
16. However, Lakṣmaṇa, having heard her words, bowed his head to Sītā (maithilī) and, though appearing delighted, with a heart withering (from sorrow), he said, 'May it be auspicious!'
