वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-6, chapter-104, verse-2

सा तदश्रुतपूर्वं हि जने महति मैथिली ।
श्रुत्वा भर्तृवचो रूक्षं लज्जया व्रीडिताभवत् ॥२॥
2. sā tadaśrutapūrvaṃ hi jane mahati maithilī ,
śrutvā bhartṛvaco rūkṣaṃ lajjayā vrīḍitābhavat.
2. sā tat aśruta-pūrvam hi jane mahati maithilī
śrutvā bhartṛ-vacaḥ rūkṣam lajjayā vrīḍitā abhavat
2. hi sā maithilī jane mahati tat aśruta-pūrvam

2. Indeed, Maithilī, having heard those harsh words from her husband, words that had never been spoken before in such a large assembly, became overcome with shame.
