वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-10, verse-14

स्थितो ऽयमिति मत्वा तु प्रविष्टो ऽहं दुरासदम् ।
तं च मे मार्गमाणस्य गतः संवत्सरस्तदा ॥१४॥
14. sthito'yamiti matvā tu praviṣṭo'haṃ durāsadam ,
taṃ ca me mārgamāṇasya gataḥ saṃvatsarastadā.
14. sthitaḥ ayam iti matvā tu praviṣṭaḥ aham durāsadam
tam ca me mārgamāṇasya gataḥ saṃvatsaraḥ tadā
14. ayam sthitaḥ iti matvā tu aham durāsadam praviṣṭaḥ.

14. Having thought, 'He is staying here,' I entered that difficult-to-access place. And while I was searching for him, a year (saṃvatsara) passed by then.
