महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-57, verse-14

आत्मयज्ञेन नृपते इष्ट्वा वैवस्वतं रणे ।
विजित्य स्वयमेष्यावो हतामित्रौ श्रिया वृतौ ॥१४॥
14. ātmayajñena nṛpate iṣṭvā vaivasvataṁ raṇe ,
vijitya svayameṣyāvo hatāmitrau śriyā vṛtau.

vijitya svayam eṣyāvaḥ hatāmitrau śriyā vṛtau
14. O King, by offering a sacrifice of our very selves (ātmayajña) in battle, we shall appease Yama (Vaivasvata). Having conquered, we two will return victorious, our enemies slain and ourselves surrounded by glory.
