महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-57, verse-12

अहं च तात कर्णश्च रणयज्ञं वितत्य वै ।
युधिष्ठिरं पशुं कृत्वा दीक्षितौ भरतर्षभ ॥१२॥
12. ahaṁ ca tāta karṇaśca raṇayajñaṁ vitatya vai ,
yudhiṣṭhiraṁ paśuṁ kṛtvā dīkṣitau bharatarṣabha.
12. aham ca tāta karṇaḥ ca raṇayajñam vitatya vai
yudhiṣṭhiram paśum kṛtvā dīkṣitau bharatarṣabha
12. O best of Bharatas, father, Karna and I will perform a battle-sacrifice (raṇayajña), making Yudhishthira the sacrificial animal, and thereby become consecrated (dīkṣita).
