A vaiśya who, after diligent study and respectfully engaging with brāhmaṇas and kṣatriyas, distributes wealth to his dependents at the appropriate time, and having inhaled the sacred smoke purified by the Tretā (three sacred) fires, enjoys divine pleasures in heaven after death.
