महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-4, chapter-5, verse-27

शरीरं च मृतस्यैकं समबध्नन्त पाण्डवाः ।
विवर्जयिष्यन्ति नरा दूरादेव शमीमिमाम् ।
आबद्धं शवमत्रेति गन्धमाघ्राय पूतिकम् ॥२७॥
27. śarīraṁ ca mṛtasyaikaṁ samabadhnanta pāṇḍavāḥ ,
vivarjayiṣyanti narā dūrādeva śamīmimām ,
ābaddhaṁ śavamatreti gandhamāghrāya pūtikam.
27. śarīram ca mṛtasya ekam samabandhnanta
pāṇḍavāḥ vivarjayisyanti narāḥ
dūrāt eva śamīm imām ābaddham
śavam atra iti gandham āghrāya pūtikam
27. The Pāṇḍavas tied up the body of a dead one. People will avoid this śamī tree from a distance, smelling the foul odor and thinking, "A corpse is tied here."
