महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-291, verse-10

अथ वा धर्ममेतं त्वं मन्यसे तपतां वर ।
ऋते प्रदानाद्बन्धुभ्यस्तव कामं करोम्यहम् ॥१०॥
10. atha vā dharmametaṁ tvaṁ manyase tapatāṁ vara ,
ṛte pradānādbandhubhyastava kāmaṁ karomyaham.
10. atha vā dharmam etam tvam manyase tapatām vara
ṛte pradānāt bandhubhyaḥ tava kāmam karomi aham
10. Or, O best among those who practice austerity (tapas), if you consider this to be your intrinsic nature (dharma), then I will fulfill your desire, but without the customary giving by my kinsmen.
