महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-27, verse-12

शर्मकान्वर्मकांश्चैव सान्त्वेनैवाजयत्प्रभुः ।
वैदेहकं च राजानं जनकं जगतीपतिम् ।
विजिग्ये पुरुषव्याघ्रो नातितीव्रेण कर्मणा ॥१२॥
12. śarmakānvarmakāṁścaiva sāntvenaivājayatprabhuḥ ,
vaidehakaṁ ca rājānaṁ janakaṁ jagatīpatim ,
vijigye puruṣavyāghro nātitīvreṇa karmaṇā.
12. śarmakān varmakān ca eva sāntvena
eva ajayat prabhuḥ vaidehakam ca
rājānam janakam jagatīpatim vijigye
puruṣavyāghraḥ na atitīvreṇa karmaṇā
12. The lord (Bhīma) conquered the Śarmakās and Varmakās merely by conciliation. That tiger among men (Bhīma) also conquered King Janaka of Videha, the protector of the earth, without excessive effort (karma).
