महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-8, verse-26

भूयः स्यादुभयं दत्तं ब्राह्मणाद्यदकोपनात् ।
कुर्यादुभयतःशेषं दत्तशेषं न शेषयेत् ॥२६॥
26. bhūyaḥ syādubhayaṁ dattaṁ brāhmaṇādyadakopanāt ,
kuryādubhayataḥśeṣaṁ dattaśeṣaṁ na śeṣayet.

kuryāt ubhayataḥśeṣam dattaśeṣam na śeṣayet
26. yat ubhayam dattam brāhmaṇāt akopanāt (tat) bhūyaḥ syāt; (saḥ) ubhayataḥśeṣam kuryāt,
dattaśeṣam na śeṣayet.
26. Whatever is given to both (beneficiaries) by a Brahmin without anger should be plentiful. One should ensure a remainder for both sides, but should not leave any part remaining from the actual gift (dāna) itself.
