महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-8, verse-21

नारी तु पत्यभावे वै देवरं कुरुते पतिम् ।
पृथिवी ब्राह्मणालाभे क्षत्रियं कुरुते पतिम् ॥२१॥
21. nārī tu patyabhāve vai devaraṁ kurute patim ,
pṛthivī brāhmaṇālābhe kṣatriyaṁ kurute patim.

21. Indeed, a woman, in the absence of a husband, takes her husband's brother as a husband. Similarly, the earth, in the absence of a brāhmaṇa, takes a kṣatriya as its lord.
