महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-10, chapter-2, verse-24

रागात्क्रोधाद्भयाल्लोभाद्योऽर्थानीहेत मानवः ।
अनीशश्चावमानी च स शीघ्रं भ्रश्यते श्रियः ॥२४॥
24. rāgātkrodhādbhayāllobhādyo'rthānīheta mānavaḥ ,
anīśaścāvamānī ca sa śīghraṁ bhraśyate śriyaḥ.
24. rāgāt krodhāt bhayāt lobhāt yaḥ arthān īheta mānavaḥ
| anīśaḥ ca avamānī ca saḥ śīghraṃ bhraśyate śriyaḥ
24. yaḥ mānavaḥ rāgāt krodhāt bhayāt lobhāt arthān īheta,
anīśaḥ ca avamānī ca (san),

24. A human being who strives for material gain (artha) out of passion, anger, fear, or greed, and who is both powerless and contemptuous, quickly falls from prosperity.
