कठिनाकाण्डविध्वस्तं पृथिव्यामिव पत्तनम् ॥ ९ ॥

At that moment, that contemplation on the ultimate reality (brahman) became utterly empty, like a city on earth devastated by a sudden, harsh catastrophe.
