बत मूढा वयं सर्वे जानाना अपि शाम्बरम् ॥ १२ ॥

We are not sold by anyone, yet we stand as if we have been sold. Alas, all of us are deluded (mūḍha), even though we know it is mere illusion (śāmbara).
