वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-18, verse-27

वरुणस्त्वब्रवीद्धंसं गङ्गातोयविचारिणम् ।
श्रूयतां प्रीतिसंयुक्तं वचः पत्ररथेश्वर ॥२७॥
27. varuṇastvabravīddhaṃsaṃ gaṅgātoyavicāriṇam ,
śrūyatāṃ prītisaṃyuktaṃ vacaḥ patraratheśvara.
27. varuṇaḥ tu abravīt haṃsam gaṅgā-toya-vicāriṇam
śrūyatām prīti-saṃyuktam vacaḥ patraratha-īśvara
27. tu varuṇaḥ gaṅgā-toya-vicāriṇam haṃsam abravīt: "he patraratha-īśvara,
prīti-saṃyuktam vacaḥ śrūyatām!"
27. Then Varuṇa spoke to the goose, who roams in the Gaṅgā waters: 'O lord of birds, listen to these words filled with affection.'
