tu varuṇaḥ gaṅgā-toya-vicāriṇam haṃsam abravīt: "he patraratha-īśvara,
prīti-saṃyuktam vacaḥ śrūyatām!"

Then Varuṇa spoke to the goose, who roams in the Gaṅgā waters: 'O lord of birds, listen to these words filled with affection.'
