वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-3, chapter-13, verse-26

मातङ्ग्यास्त्वथ मातङ्गा अपत्यं मनुजर्षभ ।
दिशागजं तु श्वेताक्षं श्वेता व्यजनयत् सुतम् ॥२६॥
26. mātaṅgyāstvatha mātaṅgā apatyaṃ manujarṣabha ,
diśāgajaṃ tu śvetākṣaṃ śvetā vyajanayat sutam.
26. mātaṅgyāḥ tu atha mātaṅgāḥ apatyam manujarṣabha
diśāgajam tu śvetākṣam śvetā vyajanayat sutam
26. manujarṣabha mātaṅgyāḥ mātaṅgāḥ tu atha apatyam
śvetā tu diśāgajam śvetākṣam sutam vyajanayat
26. O best among men, then elephants (mātaṅgāḥ) are indeed the offspring of Mātaṅgī. And Śvetā gave birth to a son named Śvetākṣa, who is a directional elephant (diśāgaja).
