वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-62, verse-20

ब्रह्मर्षि शब्दमतुलं स्वार्जितैः कर्मभिः शुभैः ।
यदि मे भगवानाह ततो ऽहं विजितेन्द्रियः ॥२०॥
20. brahmarṣi śabdamatulaṃ svārjitaiḥ karmabhiḥ śubhaiḥ ,
yadi me bhagavānāha tato'haṃ vijitendriyaḥ.

20. If the revered one (Lord Brahma) acknowledges me by the incomparable title 'Brahmarshi' – earned through my own auspicious actions (karma) – then I shall consider myself one who has indeed conquered his senses.
