मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-9, verse-28

न चापि कौशिकश्रेष्ठस्तस्य राज्ञोऽपरध्यते ।
स्वर्गप्राप्तिकरो ब्रह्मन्नपकारपदे स्थितः ॥२८॥
28. na cāpi kauśikaśreṣṭhastasya rājño'paradhyate .
svargaprāptikaro brahmannapakārapade sthitaḥ.
28. na ca api kauśikaśreṣṭhaḥ tasya rājñaḥ aparadhyate
svargaprāptikaraḥ brahman apakārapade sthitaḥ
28. The best among Kauśikas (Viśvāmitra) does not offend that king. O Brāhmaṇa (Vasiṣṭha), he (the king), though causing the attainment of heaven, is currently situated in a state of distress.
