मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-9, verse-26

जहि वत्स वशिष्ठ त्वं त्वञ्च कौशिक सत्तम ।
तामसं भावमाश्रित्य ईदृग्युद्धं चिकीर्षितम् ॥२६॥
26. jahi vatsa vaśiṣṭha tvaṃ tvañca kauśika sattama .
tāmasaṃ bhāvamāśritya īdṛgyuddhaṃ cikīrṣitam.
26. jahi vatsa vaśiṣṭha tvam tvaṃ ca kauśika sattama
tāmasam bhāvam āśritya īdṛg yuddham cikīrṣitam
26. O child Vasiṣṭha, and you too, O best Kauśika, abandon this kind of battle which is desired, having resorted to a disposition of inertia (tamas).
