मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-71, verse-25

मम चासावतीवेष्टा प्राणेभ्योऽपि महामुने ।
सा च मां प्रति दुः शीला ब्रूहि यत्कारणं द्विज ॥२५॥
25. mama cāsāvatīveṣṭā prāṇebhyo'pi mahāmune .
sā ca māṃ prati duḥ śīlā brūhi yatkāraṇaṃ dvija.
25. mama ca asau atīva iṣṭā prāṇebhyaḥ api mahāmune
sā ca mām prati duḥśīlā brūhi yat kāraṇam dvija
25. O great sage, she is exceedingly dear to me, even more than my own life. Yet, she is ill-natured towards me. O Brahmin, please tell me the reason for this.
