मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-129, verse-12

सति वित्ते महायज्ञाः कर्तव्या एव भूभृता ।
दातव्यं चात्र किं चित्रं सीदतामीश्वरो गतिः ॥१२॥
12. sati vitte mahāyajñāḥ kartavyā eva bhūbhṛtā .
dātavyaṃ cātra kiṃ citraṃ sīdatāmīśvaro gatiḥ.
12. sati vitte mahāyajñāḥ kartavyāḥ eva bhūbhṛtā |
dātavyam ca atra kim citram sīdatām īśvaraḥ gatiḥ
12. vitte sati,
bhūbhṛtā mahāyajñāḥ eva kartavyāḥ atra sīdatām dātavyam kim citram? īśvaraḥ gatiḥ
12. When wealth is available, great Vedic rituals (yajña) must indeed be performed by kings. And what wonder is there in giving to the distressed? The Lord is their refuge.
