महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-19, verse-6

ते पाण्डवाः सोमकाः सृञ्जयाश्च तमेव नागं ददृशुः समन्तात् ।
सहस्रशो वै विचरन्तमेकं यथा महेन्द्रस्य गजं समीपे ॥६॥
6. te pāṇḍavāḥ somakāḥ sṛñjayāśca; tameva nāgaṁ dadṛśuḥ samantāt ,
sahasraśo vai vicarantamekaṁ; yathā mahendrasya gajaṁ samīpe.

6. Those Pandavas, Somakas, and Srinjayas saw that very elephant from all sides, appearing as if it were a thousand elephants moving about. It was like seeing Indra's (Mahendra's) elephant close by.
