महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-45, verse-17

स तस्य भुजनिर्मुक्तो लक्ष्मणस्य सुदर्शनम् ।
सुनसं सुभ्रु केशान्तं शिरोऽहार्षीत्सकुण्डलम् ।
लक्ष्मणं निहतं दृष्ट्वा हा हेत्युच्चुक्रुशुर्जनाः ॥१७॥
17. sa tasya bhujanirmukto lakṣmaṇasya sudarśanam ,
sunasaṁ subhru keśāntaṁ śiro'hārṣītsakuṇḍalam ,
lakṣmaṇaṁ nihataṁ dṛṣṭvā hā hetyuccukruśurjanāḥ.
17. saḥ tasya bhujanirmuktaḥ lakṣmaṇasya
sudarśanam sunasam subhru keśāntam
śiraḥ ahārṣīt sakuṇḍalam lakṣmaṇam nihatam
dṛṣṭvā hā he iti uccukruśuḥ janāḥ

17. That spear, released from his (Abhimanyu's) arm, severed Lakṣmaṇa's head, which was beautiful to behold, with a lovely nose and eyebrows, and adorned with hair and earrings. Seeing Lakṣmaṇa slain, the people cried out, "Alas! Alas!"
