महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-97, verse-3

ततो राजर्षयः सर्वे विषण्णा गतचेतसः ।
वातापिं संस्कृतं दृष्ट्वा मेषभूतं महासुरम् ॥३॥
3. tato rājarṣayaḥ sarve viṣaṇṇā gatacetasaḥ ,
vātāpiṁ saṁskṛtaṁ dṛṣṭvā meṣabhūtaṁ mahāsuram.
3. tataḥ rājarṣayaḥ sarve viṣaṇṇāḥ gatacetasaḥ
vātāpiṃ saṃskṛtaṃ dṛṣṭvā meṣabhūtaṃ mahāsuram
3. Thereupon, all the royal sages became dejected and disheartened upon seeing the great demon Vātāpi, who had been transformed into a ram and prepared (for the offering).
