महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-93, verse-10

सरो गयशिरो यत्र पुण्या चैव महानदी ।
ऋषिजुष्टं सुपुण्यं तत्तीर्थं ब्रह्मसरोत्तमम् ॥१०॥
10. saro gayaśiro yatra puṇyā caiva mahānadī ,
ṛṣijuṣṭaṁ supuṇyaṁ tattīrthaṁ brahmasarottamam.
10. saraḥ gayaśiraḥ yatra puṇyā ca eva mahānadī
ṛṣijuṣṭam supuṇyam tat tīrtham brahmasarottamam
10. There, where the lake Gayaśiras and the sacred great river are found, that holy place (tīrtha), frequented by sages and exceedingly sacred, is considered the foremost of Brahma's lakes.
