महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-66, verse-6

मलेन संवृतो ह्यस्यास्तन्वभ्रेणेव चन्द्रमाः ।
चिह्नभूतो विभूत्यर्थमयं धात्रा विनिर्मितः ॥६॥

6. malena saṁvṛto hyasyāstanvabhreṇeva candramāḥ ,
cihnabhūto vibhūtyarthamayaṁ dhātrā vinirmitaḥ.

6. malena saṃvṛtaḥ hi asyāḥ tanvabhreṇa iva candramāḥ
cihnabhūtaḥ vibhūtyartham ayam dhātrā vinirmitaḥ

6. Indeed, this mark of hers is covered with dirt, just like the moon is obscured by a thin cloud. This mark, meant for her glory and splendor, was fashioned by the Creator (Dhātṛ).
