महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-186, verse-25

हृदयं पापवृत्तानां पापमाख्याति वैकृतम् ।
ज्ञानपूर्वं विनश्यन्ति गूहमाना महाजने ॥२५॥
25. hṛdayaṁ pāpavṛttānāṁ pāpamākhyāti vaikṛtam ,
jñānapūrvaṁ vinaśyanti gūhamānā mahājane.

25. The conscience of those who engage in wicked behavior reveals their sinful and perverse nature. Those who knowingly commit sin and try to conceal themselves among virtuous people will ultimately perish.
