तदा तदा तु मे यज्ञं विनिघ्नन्ति निशाचराः ॥ ५ ॥

Whenever I perform a sacred ritual (yajña) for the hosts of gods, then at that very time, the night-prowling rākṣasas (niśācarāḥ) obstruct my ritual (yajña).
