वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-78, verse-20

ततः स राजा शोकार्ताः प्रत्याख्यातो महात्मना ।
न स जग्राह स्त्रीभूतो वरमन्यं सुरोत्तमात् ॥२०॥
20. tataḥ sa rājā śokārtāḥ pratyākhyāto mahātmanā ,
na sa jagrāha strībhūto varamanyaṃ surottamāt.

20. Then that king, afflicted by sorrow and having become a woman, was rejected by the great-souled one (Śiva), and he did not accept any other boon from the best of gods.
