वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-20, verse-6

किमयं वध्यते लोकस्त्वयावध्येन दैवतैः ।
हत एव ह्ययं लोको यदा मृत्युवशं गतः ॥६॥
6. kimayaṃ vadhyate lokastvayāvadhyena daivataiḥ ,
hata eva hyayaṃ loko yadā mṛtyuvaśaṃ gataḥ.
6. kim ayam vadhyate lokaḥ tvayā avadhyena daivataiḥ
hata eva hi ayam lokaḥ yadā mṛtyuvaśam gataḥ
6. kim ayam lokaḥ tvayā avadhyena daivataiḥ vadhyate
hi ayam lokaḥ hata eva yadā mṛtyuvaśam gataḥ
6. Why do you slay this world, O you who are unslayable by the gods? This world is, indeed, already slain, for it has fallen under the sway of death.
