वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-72, verse-20

तां प्रेक्ष्य भरतः क्रुद्धं शत्रुघ्नमिदमब्रवीत् ।
अवध्याः सर्वभूतानां प्रमदाः क्षम्यतामिति ॥२०॥
20. tāṃ prekṣya bharataḥ kruddhaṃ śatrughnamidamabravīt ,
avadhyāḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ pramadāḥ kṣamyatāmiti.
20. tām prekṣya bharataḥ kruddham śatrughnam idam
abravīt avadhyāḥ sarvabhūtānām pramadāḥ kṣamyatām iti
20. bharataḥ tām prekṣya kruddham śatrughnam idam
abravīt pramadāḥ sarvabhūtānām avadhyāḥ kṣamyatām iti
20. Bharata, seeing the enraged Shatrughna, said this: "Women are not to be killed by any living being; therefore, she should be forgiven."
