अत्रैवैतद्युगानान्तु चातुर्वर्ण्योऽत्र वै द्विज ।
चत्वारि त्रीणि द्वे चैव तथैकञ्च शरच्छतम् ॥२॥

2. atraivaitadyugānāntu cāturvarṇyo'tra vai dvija .
catvāri trīṇi dve caiva tathaikañca śaracchatam.

2. atra eva etat yugānām tu cāturvarṇyaḥ atra vai dvija
catvāri trīṇi dve ca eva tathā ekam ca śaracchatam

2. Here, in these very ages (yuga), O twice-born (dvija), the four social classes (cāturvarṇya) are found. (In terms of lifespan), they (people) live for four, three, two, and one hundred years, respectively.
