मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-17, verse-24

मन्यमाना महात्मानं पीतासव-सविक्रियम् ।
नावाप दोषं योगीशो वारुणीं स पिबन्नपि ॥२४॥
24. manyamānā mahātmānaṃ pītāsava-savikriyam .
nāvāpa doṣaṃ yogīśo vāruṇīṃ sa pibannapi.
24. manyamānāḥ mahātmānam pītāsava-savikriyam na
avāpa doṣam yogīśaḥ vāruṇīm saḥ piban api
24. Considering him a great soul (mahātmā) who had consumed liquor and was exhibiting its effects, the lord of (yoga) yogis incurred no fault, even while he was drinking wine (vāruṇī).
