मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-17, verse-13

दत्तात्रेयः प्रजां पाति दुष्टदैत्यनिबर्हणात् ।
शिष्टानुग्रहकृच्चेति ज्ञेयश्चांशः स वैष्णवः ॥१३॥
13. dattātreyaḥ prajāṃ pāti duṣṭadaityanibarhaṇāt .

13. Dattātreya protects the people by eradicating wicked demons. He is known to be an aspect (aṃśa) of Viṣṇu, who grants favor to the virtuous.
